2018 Annual Meeting.

On October 30 – 31, 2018, IASCA held its 2nd Annual Meeting in Oak Brook, IL. The two day meeting offered IASCA members a unique opportunity to network with colleagues and learn from industry experts, while earning both AEU credits and an infection control certificate.

The conference began with an Infection Control Seminar presented by Excellentia Advisory Group. Donna Nucci, RN, MS, CIC gave an overview of best practices for safe medication management during the Infection Control Seminar while Robin Novak, RN, CIC provided attendees a surveyors perspective. Following the seminar, Michelle Lynn, Director of Operations at Springfield Clinic, presented “Are You Ready to Do Total Joints in Your ASC?” which broke down how to prepare your ASC for total joint surgeries. The second day included updates on federal regulation and legislation from ASCA. Later that day, Monica Daniel, Principal at Axiom Integrated Services, moderated a panel entitled “ASC Accreditation” which compared and contrasted the various ASC accreditors. Panelists included representatives from AAAHC, AAAASF, The Joint Commission, and Institute for Medical Quality.
