IASCA Calls for Updated Elective Procedure Guidelines

In April 5th correspondence with Governor J.B. Pritzker, Illinois Ambulatory Surgery Center Association President Jean Dunaway, RN, CASC, requests “the swift issuance of updated Guidance on Elective Surgeries and Procedures” and urges him “to develop and publish updated guidance without delay.”
In support of this request, she references a survey that finds patients receiving outpatient surgeries faced virtually no heightened risk of contracting [COVID-19] either during or following their procedures. The primary reason for this happy fact are “numerous standard safety protocols used by ASTCs, along with COVID-19 safety measures adopted due to the pandemic.”
